A Little Mystery. A Lot of Great Coffee.

Bat Coffee really started with two things I’ve loved for a very long time: the mystique of the bat and a really good cup of coffee.

As a kid, I was fascinated by a certain bat-inspired superhero. There was just something about the symbol, the character and the mystery surrounding it that captured my imagination. I never really outgrew that fascination.

I also never outgrew my love of great coffee.

So when the idea of creating my own coffee brand began taking shape, Bat Coffee just felt right.

There isn’t an elaborate story about how bats and coffee somehow belong together. They don’t. And that’s part of the fun. I simply wanted to build a brand with a little personality and use it to curate coffees that I genuinely enjoy and think other people will too.

For me, that means seeking out distinctive single-origin coffees and other interesting selections from around the world, having them freshly roasted here in the U.S., and making them easy to enjoy at home.

I’m not interested in making coffee complicated or pretentious. I want Bat Coffee to be approachable, memorable and, most importantly, really good coffee.

And while we're clearing things up, yes, there actually is a type of exotic coffee associated with beans processed after being chewed by bats.

This isn't it.

No bat saliva. No bats involved in the production process. Just the name, a little mystery, and some incredible coffee.

As Bat Coffee grows, I hope you'll get to know more about the coffees we discover, the people and places behind them, and probably a little more about me along the way.
